"M" Series Photos

The following photos are from a 1962 "M" series Thunderbird (factory 3 2-barrel carbs) we had in the shop that we restored after an engine compartment fire. I felt that these pictures would be interesting and informative especially to those that are not familure with the option but also to those that need examples of what things look like and how they are put together, etc. This car is not a 300 point show car and I am not suggesting that what you see here is exactly factory correct. However, it is very very close to factory original and correct with only some very minor details.
Passenger side of engine. Oil cap is not original.
Passenger side of engine. Hose clamps for short fuel lines not original. Choke tube is white and in middle of picture.
Passenger side of engine. Good image of linkage hookup.
Drivers side of engine. Vacuum advance tube is sliver and in middle of image. Choke tube is white next to vacuum advance tube. Bottom right side of image see air conditioning hose bracket. This is factory original and in factory original position. '61-'64 Thunderbirds air conditioning hoses go above cross brace.
Drivers side of engine. Close up view of choke tube and vacuum advance tube.
Drivers side of engine. Another view of vacuum advance tube and dash pot.
Drivers side of engine. Good view of kick down bell crank, kick down rod and clip, and PCV tube at intake manifold just above wiring bundle.
Drivers side of engine. Another unobstructed view of kick down bell crank and return spring, throttle rod, choke tube routing, and power window relay on firewall (silver box just behind rear carb on firewall).
Passenger side throttle linkage and cross over bell crank. Also you can see the intake manifold watter fitting with original tower clamp.
Here again you see the intake manifold watter fitting and tower clamp.
Drivers side cross brace with proper air conditioning hose routing and retaining bracket. This image shows a "screw type" brake booster with original style master cylinder with original cap. Also proper routing of wires above brake booster.
Passenger side cross brace with proper routing of heater hoses and tower clamps. Proper routing of choke tube. Proper routing of convertible top power wire and squirter hoses. Again you can see proper placement of the power window relay on the firewall.
Correct factory original "M" intake manifold and factory original PCV parts, setup and routing. Spring clamps are correct but hose with tie wraps are incorrect.
Passenger side view of intake manifold showing PCV parts, temp sending unit and water fitting. You can also see vacuum "T" fitting on back of intake.
Better view of watter fitting, temp send unit and oil fill tube. You can see water pump cross over tube at bottom center. Those are available new.
Close up of factory original vacuum "T" fitting at back of intake with PCV parts.
PCV tube fitting on passenger side of intake manifold. This is the factory original fitting and tube.
Factory original vacuum "T" fitting. This fitting services the brake booster (large end) and the air conditioning/heater (small end).
PCV valve and bracket. Bracket is factory original but not sure about PCV valve.
