ITALIEN CONCEPT CAR

Photos > ITALIEN CONCEPT CAR

The Italien is a Ford Motor Company concept car built for the 1964 worlds fair.  It was designed and built with an Italien flair as that was the trend of the day, hence the name. It was built in Dearborn Michigan by Carozeria Dearborn Steel Tubing (DST) the same folks who built the 100 Thunderbolts in 1964 for Ford as well as a number of other concept cars.

The above photo is an original file photo from the 1964 worlds fair. The Italien is a mixture of a 1962 convertible and 1963 parts to create this stunning fast back design. It is a "one off" only concept car. There is no other in the world. The Italien has been fully restored and owned by Tom Maruska. The restoration took about one year. It was completed just this month August 2007. The paint is Candy Apple Red and the interior is all leather including all those pieces that would normally be vinyl in your average Thunderbird. I will keep you abreast as to where the car might be seen in person. Please stay tuned.
